In his earlier book on Simplified lean manufacturing, the focus was to eliminate wastes in all processes. This increases the speed of the process, reduces cycle time and reduces cost. However in most of the organisations the performance standards are so low that the customer is unhappy and keeps looking for alternates. Take any service industry the output quality is not stable and creates customer dissatisfaction.

When you meet any one, you always hear them grumbling that there is no consistent quality in all the sectors. When a customer expects a service activity to get completed in a certain time it does not happen. If you look at the Airlines there are delays, loss of luggage and many other issues. Similarly in the manufacturing sector parts supplied to assemblies are not delivered on time and there are quality issues. To maintain quality in all the processes is very critical.

The only way to overcome these problems and maintain consistent quality in the products and services is by adapting to Six Sigma improvement methodology. This is not a certification process, but helps organisations to re look at their processes, eliminate the problems and produce consistent quality. The ultimate aim of Six Sigma process is to improve customer satisfaction and improve profitability.

There are a number of myths about Six Sigma such as, that it is suitable only for the manufacturing industry, it is very expensive and it is time consuming. In order to clear these myths, I thought it will be helpful to all concerned to write a simple book which gives simple methods of achieving Six Sigma performance.

Lot of hype has been made in the western world that Six Sigma requires very expensive training and purchase of costly software. This book explains how any one can achieve Six Sigma performance standards at minimum cost. The training is very simple and the statistical tools used do not require purchase of expensive software.

This book explains the basic principles of Six Sigma and what needs to be done to achieve Six Sigma quality in the processes. Ready to use templates, formats and live examples have been provided. These processes have been tried out in many organisations and they have been very successful.

All types of organisations such as hospitals, banks, hotels, transports, and the manufacturing industry can improve their quality of output. Also students who are pursuing their interest in Production management, Business management and quality management will be greatly benefited.
